Stephan Lutermann
Stephan Lutermann was born in Osnabrück/Germany and studied organ, church music and choral conducting at the Mozarteum Salzburg and at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. A much sought-after soloist, Lutermann performs regularly in Europe, North and South America, and Africa as organist and pianist at major festivals and concert series. As a chamber music partner he complements his repertoire and field of activity. Various CD recordings (cpo, ambiente, and others) as well as radio and television recordings reflect his wide-ranging repertoire and intensive engagement with questions of historical performance practice. As a conductor, Lutermann delights audiences on stages at home and abroad with his various choirs.
Prizes at international competitions testify to the high quality of his choral work. Invitations as a speaker and juror round off his activities. In 2010, Lutermann initiated the 1st European Children's and Youth Choir Meeting "Sing We And Chant It", which promoted the choral work of the next generation with its affiliated symposium on "Tendencies and Developments of the Children's Voice". The promotion of the young generation extends further to cooperation projects with the Goethe Institute in Ghana and Burkina Faso. Luthermann works as a church musician at St. Matthew's Church in Melle, where he plays and organizes concerts around the historic 1713 Klausing organ restored by Hendrik Ahrend.
Since October 2022, Lutermann has held a substitute professorship in choral conducting at the Hamburg University of Music and Dance, after 13 years as an adjunct professor at the Osnabrück University of Music Institute. As founder and director of the multiple award-winning chamber choir "Vokalconsort Osnabrück", he has conceived new concert formats and inspired audiences with his innovative programs, also on an
international level. In recent years, Lutermann, together with the choreographer Lars Scheibner, has been intensively engaged in the scenic realization of choral works. In particular, their work with the St. John Passion by JS Bach and the German Requiem by Johannes Brahms have received widespread attention and enthusiasm. The founding of the top European ensemble CHOREOS in 2016 is ultimately the logical
continuation of this innovative work. It is the first ensemble of its kind in the world.
The work with CHOREOS is highly regarded internationally. Workshops and seminars in Tallinn (ECA conference), Sweden (Föreningen Sveriges Körledare), Serbia (From choir in movement to choral theater) as well as in Germany (among others chor.com, Ljc NRW, CHOREOS Academy, Nordklang Festival) about the "CHOREOS Method" show the great interest of the professional world in this work.

Stephan Lutermann invites you to a workshop aimed at choir directors and choir singers. He will give insights into his work with CHOREOS and show you how to experience choral singing in 3D - through movement, voice and space. He will show videos of his performances and his concept and introduce some exercises he has developed. He will give you a new perspective and a deep understanding of how to experience choral singing in a new, creative way.

In this workshop Stephan Lutermann will present his CHOREOS method and give you a deep insight into his work as a choir director. The workshop is aimed at choir directors who want innovative and lively singing in 3D: with singing, movement and the use of space. He will show you how to train your singers' perception, increased focus and achieve a shared energy level. During the workshop you will be presented with exercises developed by Stephan Lutermann himself, as well as working on concrete pieces with the studio choir.
