Euponia Choir

The Friends of Music Association of N. Kavala was founded in 1975. Through its mixed choir, it has maintained a continuous presence in the cultural life of the city and has participated in numerous choral festivals. Since 1997, in collaboration with the Kavala Institute of Technology (TEI Kavala), it has been organizing the annual Kavala Choral Meeting, establishing a cultural institution. The choir has presented a musical-literary tribute featuring The Free Besieged, a work based on the poetry of Dionysios Solomos, with music by Giannis Markopoulos. Additionally, it organized two concerts dedicated to the great composer Mikis Theodorakis with great success. In 2024, the choir participated in a grand concert at the Ancient Theater of Philippi featuring Maria Farantouri and performed in the opera La Bohème, performed in Kavala, in collaboration with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra.
