Merel Martens

In 2015, Merel obtained a master's degree in Choral Conducting from the Royal Academy of Music Aalborg (RAMA) in Denmark. She graduated under the guidance of Jim Daus Hjernøe and Jesper Holm and received mentorship from colleagues like Peder Karlsson (former The Real Group member), and Roger Treece (co-author of Bobby McFerrin's Vocabularies). Merel has led award-winning groups such as Pitch Control and VOISZ Vocal Projects. She has coached and led the professional group The Junction. She established the a cappella group The Dutch Organic Choir in 2015, focused on collaborative leadership and original music. Merel introduced the Total Vocal method to two Dutch music conservatories and offers a full master's program in Vocal Leadership through weekend courses.
