Peder Karlsson

Peder Karlsson graduated with a master's degree in Vocal Group Performance from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1989. He was a member of the Swedish a cappella group The Real Group from 1984 to 2010, performing over 2000 concerts worldwide. From 2011 to 2014, Peder served as the Musical Director of the Slovenian vocal group "Perpetuum Jazzile." Since January 2015, he has been teaching rhythmical choral music at the Royal Academy of Music Aalborg (RAMA), Denmark and holds the title of "Honorary Professor" since January 2016.

This workshop for singers and choir leaders is an introduction to giving musical responsibility to singers in an inspirational way. Exercises demonstrated in the workshop will help improve musical skills and presence in the moment and in the room; in your body and in the group. For those of you who want to work long-term on applying the knowledge and inspiration from this workshop in your weekly rehearsals, further workshop materials will be available online.

Welcome to an interactive session where we will share and discuss ideas about how to arrange the song “Moon River”! … and possibly other songs as well. We will sing a few examples from the online workshop with Peder and James, we'll discuss various options and get your input on different choices that could be made to a song. There will also be an open Q&A session. Feel free to prepare what you would like to ask these two masters about arranging! Questions will be collected at the beginning of the workshop. All questions are welcome!
